This is the day(s) that the Lord has made!

Posted in Fun@caregroup, Happenings, Testimonies and sharing on June 1, 2009 by jianan08

Lucy is from Indonesia. She found her job in Singapore and joined Jedi group about 1 years ago. We are all very amazed by how she overcame her culture and language barriers in Singapore in such a short time. She has improved her English greatly. She also possesses a very sweet spirit that many people admire. She is very  ’cute’, super warm and hospitable. People will never forget the way she welcome them to the Jedi caregroup. She has the quality and personality to attract new friends and even strangers rather easily. Last but not least, she loves God very much and is always ready to give her best to serve Him. Thank sis. Happy Birthday!!! May God bless you even more in the coming ages and years! By the way, the Jedi group celebrated her birthday on 20 May (actual date) evening at St. Andrew Cathedral after prayer meeting.

On Friday 22 May, Jedi 3 celebrated Yanyan and Lucy’s birthday at New York New York restaurant at Citilink. You can’t believe it we almost have 17 (double the size of present caregroup) joining us for the special caregroup dinner. Gong’s 3 Thai friends decided to eat somewhere else due to the overcrowded group. But we still have Ayu and her three Indo friends on holiday visit to Singapore.

Birthday Celebration for Jedi 3 January Babies

Posted in Fun@caregroup, Testimonies and sharing on February 16, 2009 by jianan08

JEDI3 – On 6 Feb, we had a special caregroup in Warunglele restaurant near Arab street – we celebrated birthdays for Mark, Florence and Mimie. We ordered a CNY promotion set which consists of ‘Yusheng’ to celebrate ‘lo hei’. It was a very delicious Indonesion meal and all of us were very satisfied and happy. This restaurant is strongly recommended to all the Jedis.

During the birthday celebration program, we had a very heart-warming sharing especially from the brothers. We affirmed them many things such as:

  • Florence – Her perseverance and faithfulness in serving God and shepherding her sheep. She has led the group well and we must thank her for gelling us together in love and unity despite the diversity of nationalities, cultures and languages. One of us is determined to stay with God all the way because of what she did! She already moved to a new group to serve God. All of us missed her presence!
  • Mark – He is a man of God. He really loves people. He is also seen as someone who trusts in the Lord. I was amazed by his calm response to the loss of laptop and important documents two months ago. He also possesses extraordinary leadership skills which all of us can learn from. Name blew us away by saying, ”This is the man that I want to follow” after finished his sharing.
  • Mimie – She is a very enthusiastic sister. She also has a big heart for people around her. Further, she took the  courage to serve God to the best of her knowledge despite facing many difficulties and challenges. I am grateful to her for her constant encouragements to all of us. She is back to Thailand for longer period this time. We will definitely miss her a lot!

Florence was very impressed by our sharing and told me (after the event) all Jedi3 guys are very eligible!

The Eating ‘Marathon’

Posted in Fun@caregroup on December 1, 2008 by jianan08

We had a ‘Eating Marathon’ last Saturday. The route is Kallang MRT –> GeyLang Lorong 9 –> Kallang Leisure Park –> Golden Mile Complex.

We met a few new faces - Deo, Kran (Mark’s Thai friends) & Hsu Wai (James’ Myammar friend). At lunch, we ate the famous Beef Hor Fun at Geylang Lorong 9. After the meal, we had a good time of chit-chating.

We then moved to Kallang Leisure Park to play bowling. Though it is Mark and Kate first time, they played really well. We split ourselves into two teams and had a fun competition. We all did not score more than 100 but we really had lots of fun.

After that, we moved to Golden Mile Complex to have Thai food dinner. Name ordered papaya salad, Thai salty and spicy soup, roasted chicken, fish, fried pork’s neck, etc…to eat with sticky rice.

Most “Attractive CG meeting” and Most “Mission-Minded CG”

Posted in Fun@caregroup on June 28, 2008 by CN

Last Sunday, we had our District Team Rally (DTR) after service.

As always, it was a fun time of fellowshipping with the other leaders and hearing from Michael on the direction we are taking in the quarter.

Part of the DTR was dedicated to affirm the faithfulness of some CG in the past quarter.

And the JEDI unit collected 3 of the “Hall of Faith” awards!!!

Most “Attractive CG Meeting”

Most “Mission-Minded CG”

“Grow by 2”

Although Melvin would say that the “Attractive CG Meeting” award was given to us because of his youthful charm in the CG, I guess that’s true… in a certain way… but all of us play an equally important part in making our CG attractive for our friends, visitors, and of course members as well!

Not forgetting to thank God for Irene in mobilizing most of her CG to go for the Missions Trip to Udonthani!

It has been a fulfilling and exciting quarter serving God with you guys and I am sure most of you can say “Amen!” to that.

Let’s continue to march forward to our goal of 80 ’08.

Creativity, Fun and Poetic…

Posted in Fun@caregroup on May 14, 2008 by jabezloh

Yes, JEDI is not just fun loving but they are creative as well!!! I believe God has placed in everyone of us a certain extend of creativity and thus this night is the night of exploration. It’s a night where the JEDI put their right brain (creativity part) to use, they came up with two writngs on FAMILY. Indeed God has blessed us with our physical family and a spiritual family.

Without delay, we should see the output of their creativeness!! Scroll downwards and enjoy!!

“As iron sharpens iron, families are quarreling”

“Oh My FAMILY! you are so forgiving”

“Goes through those days with tears, we knows understanding”

“Oh PRAISE GOD!! Because of You, we always have happy ending”

-=Created by: Yoppy, Grace, Leslie and Ronald=-

“Are YOU looking for something? Do you need DIRECTION?”

“I found ACCEPTANCE in my weakness”

“I found LOVE in my loniness”

“I found FORGIVENESS in my transgressions”

“What gives me such position, Only through CHRIST without condition!”

JEDI + Hope Brisbanites 28 Jan 07

Posted in Fun@caregroup on January 23, 2008 by christinechean

Here’re some fun shots from the caregroup of JEDI & Hope Brisbanites back in S’pore for hols! Apologies for the blur-ness coz’ it was taken with a phone camera & the ppl were moving coz’ they were acting! ;o It was a really fun night which brought out some of the characteristics of Jesus through the bible stories.

1st play: Jesus the all-powerful (calms the storm)

- really creative way of acting out the vessel & Jesus! ;o

jesus-calms-storms_1.jpgjesus-calms-storms_2.jpgjesus-calms-storms_3.jpg

2nd play: Jesus the Holy one (Jesus clears marketplace at God’s temple)

- animals galore & a Jesus who tried his best to act angry!

jesus-in-holy-anger_1.jpgjesus-in-holy-anger_2.jpgjesus-in-holy-anger_3.jpgjesus-in-holy-anger_4.jpg

3rd play: Jesus the forgiver & healer of our soul (forgives the adulteress)

- i really love how Jesus was portrayed here! have you ever wondered what Jesus wrote on the sand?

jesus_forgiver_1.jpgjesus_forgiver_2.jpgjesus_forgiver_3.jpg

4th play: Jesus the healer (heals the lepers)

- a powerful healing story that is seldom highlighted. I appreciated this story much more when i learnt how treadful leprosy can kill someone-pretty much like aids of nowadays.

jesus-the-healer_1.jpgjesus-the-healer_2.jpgjesus-the-healer_3.jpgjesus-the-healer_4.jpg

All in all, everyone really enjoyed seeing the bible stories come alive! Each story actually teaches us much more than what we acted out as well. Indeed, it was a visual reminder of the goodness of Jesus in our lives :)
