Yan Yan (彦彦) Birthday Celebration

Posted in Uncategorized on May 17, 2009 by jianan08

Yan Yan is a Jedi new believer. She came to know Christ during Christmas last year. She has been growing up in the Lord. She experienced a major spiritual breakthrough just a couple of weeks ago – she prayed and broke out in heavenly tougue! She now enjoys praying a lot and desires to develop intimate relationship with Jesus. Wow, she is such a great encouragement to all of us! We celebrated her bithday at Nexus and Cineleisure foodcourt today. The cake and card you will see in the pictures are made by our lovely Rae. The caregroup will have a special program for her this coming week.

Easter with Jedi 2 =)

Posted in Uncategorized on April 26, 2009 by gsallyy

Easter is here again. What can you think of during this period of time? Easter eggs, Easter bunnies, chocolate, hot cross buns, cross, Jesus… and I am sure the list goes on. Praise God for a good weather even though it was rainy during the day but God hears our prayer as the rain stop during the BBQ. We had a great time even during the pre-event… from preparing the food, drink, hiding the quails Easter eggs to spending time worshipping God.

Jabez & Christerson, the masterminds behind the fun ice-breakers game of “Guess what my occupation is” and “Egg à chick à chicken à Colonel Sanders” decided to make the game more interesting by penalising the ones that fail to win the game.

The ultimate treasure hunt game was really exciting and sweat-pouring. With the hints given to each group, we needed to hunt for 6 tiny mini quails eggs hidden in the surrounding of Gallop Gables (the apartment of CN & Christine). The game ended with picture shots in 3 different poses: Serious, happy & crazy pose.

Not forgetting, the most important part of this event was to share the Love of Christ! It was a perfect teamwork as Hendry shared his heart out and Grace translated to Mandarin, the message of God’s and Christ’s love for us. And of course with the powerful testimony shared by Christerson, it really summed up how our lives can be change and transformed when we invite Jesus into our life.

What can be better than to BBQ by the pool under the moon after a whole afternoon of rain? It was a wonderful night of cool weather, warm people and not to forget the nicely prepared cooked food. Everyone moved around and chatted with chicken wing in their mouth ;o The whole event ended with a group photo that comprises of people around the WORLD – Singapore!! Malaysia!! China!! India!! Indonesia!! Philippine!! Kenya!! Australia!!

WOW!!! What a way to remember and celebrate Good Friday & Easter.

A Miracle that blesses many

Posted in Uncategorized on April 20, 2009 by raehong

I remember the day well as it was my dad’s birthday and even though it was only morning, I was looking forward to return home to celebrate his birthday with the rest of the family when I received an SMS that James’ mum was struck down with a stroke. Initial scans showed it happened on the left side of her brain which caused immobility to the right side of her body and it left her speech impeded as well. As it was a massive stroke, a more detail scan was needed before the doctor was able to give us the diagnosis and prognosis and the medical treatment needed.

Evening came and the scan revealed grim results which required the family to make decision to operate on James’ mum. Doctor advised to gather all family members who are not in Singapore to visit James’ mum soon and to prepare for the worst. The decision was not an easy one for the family to make as the operation has a mortality rate of 50% but yet without operation James’ mum will be constantly in danger.

When Christine SMS us the news and suggested we sent text messages to James to encourage him, many ones fasted for God’s healing hand to be upon James’ mum too. James shared that night he was at a lost of what to do until he started to receive words of encouragements via SMS from brothers and sisters in Christ in JEDI. He was so encouraged and hopeful he was able to encourage his family members!

As the family decided to go ahead with the operation, the doctor dropped another bleak news saying the operation would no longer help James’ mum in any way as the damaged done to the brain was too immense. The doctor prepared the family with the worst-case scenario with James’ mum slipping into coma; her body would turn black due to obstruction of blood flow and finally she would pass away. Many ones in JEDI began to fast and pray together even more fervently for a miracle to happen and visited James’ mum whenever they could, during lunch time, after work, over the weekends and brother Yoppy and Roland even stayed overnight with James in the hospital.

Despite what the doctor said, we continued to look to God praying our requests onto him and slowly but surely, we began to experience the fruit of Matthew 18:19-20:

19″Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.

20For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.”

James’ mum defied what the doctor predicted and did not slip into coma, neither did her body turn black. Her strength started to return and day by day, she improved little by little and soon she was able to respond to us with a smile, with a squeeze of the hand and even hi-5 (requested by sister Kelly J).

The family started to arrange for James’ mum to return to Chiang Rai to continue to receive medical treatment and be closer to family members as well. Finally, 15 days after James’ mum came down with stroke and defying doctor’s prognosis for her, she was able to return to Chiang Rai. Though short, the 15 days felt like forever to some of us. What happened to James’ mum was not only a miracle for him and his family, but it was a blessing for all of us inJEDI as well. It was 15 days filled with praying and fasting as we come together, allowing Him to work through us to support James and his family and how sweet it is to witness his miracle, answering our prayer request. Through this experience, I felt brothers and sisters in Christ in JEDI have grown closer and it is such a blessing to belong to this family of God.

Ecclesiastes 4:8-10

9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:

10 If one falls down, his friend can help him up.

Dinner @ 2D1N Soju Bang 1박2일

Joori brought some of us to 2D1N Soju Bang, a Korean Restaurant with original Korean foods and Korean chefs. Usually, only Koreans who reside in Singapore frequent the place. We learned a lot of things about Korean people, language, culture and foods. The foods are “Aju Mashita”! (very delicious!)

James and Name Birthday Celebration at Sofra

Posted in Uncategorized on April 3, 2009 by jianan08

This was a special birthday celebration. It was supposed to be Jedi 3 alone celebrating for them. But Jedi 1 DMM team is so loving and encouraging, after they knew we were meeting at Bugis, they adjusted their plan to have dinner at Sofra Turkish Restaurant to give James and Name a surprise. It was first time we tried Turkish food together. The ambience is very condusive for such event and it gives us the Middle East feel. The food is generally dry some of us are not used to it. But the lamb is really very good. I also loved the oreo chocorate cheese cake Rae bought. Thank God for these two strong men who are advancing their territory in the kingdom of God!!!030-c037-c1041-cimage007-cimage008-c039-c

More new creation in Christ!

Posted in Uncategorized on March 2, 2009 by Ben Chia

Another big celebration in heaven occured as another publicly acknowledge Christ in obedience!

Thank God for Chong Ming’s water baptism. Even though he has been only a new believer some months back, his life has shown the desire to grow in God and desire to honor God through the outward action of water baptism.

Even though there was heavy rain on that day, it was truely God’s blessing and support for all the people who were baptised on that day that the rain stopped enough for all water baptism to complete. Praise God!

Congratulations once again Bro and we’ll support you always. :)

new creations in Christ!

It was a joyous day on heaven and on earth when our brother-in-Christ Melvin, and our sister-in-Christ Sherwayne showed their obedience & commitment to Christ publicly last month by being water baptised!

Their changed lives are testament of God’s love and power in their lives. We LOVE you Melvin & Sherwayne! Thank God for blessing us with you! :) Here are their photos and stories!

20081019_-_melvin_water_baptism_-00420081019_-_melvin_water_baptism_-00520081019_-_melvin_water_baptism_-017

“My decision to be water baptized is built upon my decision to accept Jesus as my Lord & Saviour in December 2007. After accepting Christ, I’ve grown spiritually through the ups and downs experienced by any new believer. This public proclamation of faith through the water baptism allowed me to cement my faith in Christ and to really show that our God is indeed a living God. Before I decided to go ahead with my water baptism, I had my doubts. However as I prayed about whether it was the right thing or time, there was peace in my heart and the verse Proverbs 3:5-6 (Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight) helped me quell my doubts. Praise the Lord.” – Melvin

20081019_-_sherwayne_water_baptism_-_00120081019_-_sherwayne_water_baptism_-_00720081019_-_sherwayne_water_baptism_-_017

“I’ve been to church on & off since 4 yrs old. I’ve always wanted to be water baptise since 11 yrs old, but I receive wrong information that I must be a good girl in order to be water baptise. My belief for Jesus is always very strong even though I’m always naughty in the past & also lazy to go church…keke..thinking that as long as I have faith in Jesus & that is good enough. Until one day, I suddenly feel lonely, no peace in mind & also can’t find the real purpose in life. I start to go back to church again & start to communicate with God more frequent & God always answer my prayer in different way. I start to realise why is there a need to go church for service & caregroup – it’s so that I can draw myself nearer to God. I also start to pray about being water baptised & God answered my prayer. That’s why I decided to follow his will.

I’m a heavy smoker for the past 12 yrs, I think the biggest change in me after water baptism is to quit smoking. Joining Hope Church as a member is also a way to commit myself to God to fulfil his will.” – Sherwayne
