The sun and the sea and the wind.. who doesn’t like it all??? Nope Jedi 2 aren’t going for a dip @ the sea =P
Well rather its a time of firming up our muscles here and there. Well the most important thing is the bonding that was being built!! Never thought cycling and roller blading can be of so much fun. Well.. the more adventurous ones like Hendry, Melvin, Grace went roller blading.. whoosh whoosh.. but where’s the brakes??? I do admire their courage in trying blading.. haha.

Not only did they have fellowship with one another and i believe they had great fellowship with the earth as well.. What’s blading without a fall to the ground.. THe cautious ones which is the rest of us simply went cycling of cause.. It feels great with wind rushing upon our faces.. Hair was abit messed up though >_< .. not longer handsome n pretty for the remaining day..

THE BESt best PART.. is definitely food.. need food to replenish our stomaches.. I can see Jedi 2 really loves seafood and more seafood and more seafood… best of all its BBQ.. steamy hot and saliva inducing… With a fork on my right and a spoon on my left, a plate infront plus a coconut drink.. slurp slurp. yummy!! FOr those who miss it.. don’t fret.. next time.. come along!!!

Wow! It’s was a wonderful time off Pasir Ris Park on 28 Mar (Sat) ..

Thank God for everyone having a great time with games and the awesome food. :)

Thank God also for the very nice weather! Even though it started with cloudy sky even with signs of rain coming, Somehow the rain never came and what’s left was just a nice cloudy sky and nice breeze, making the activities that happened on that day very pleasant.

Last but not least, thank God for the efforts put in by our fellow brothers and sisters to make this event so fun. :)

James and Name Birthday Celebration at Sofra

Posted in Uncategorized on April 3, 2009 by jianan08

This was a special birthday celebration. It was supposed to be Jedi 3 alone celebrating for them. But Jedi 1 DMM team is so loving and encouraging, after they knew we were meeting at Bugis, they adjusted their plan to have dinner at Sofra Turkish Restaurant to give James and Name a surprise. It was first time we tried Turkish food together. The ambience is very condusive for such event and it gives us the Middle East feel. The food is generally dry some of us are not used to it. But the lamb is really very good. I also loved the oreo chocorate cheese cake Rae bought. Thank God for these two strong men who are advancing their territory in the kingdom of God!!!030-c037-c1041-cimage007-cimage008-c039-c

More testimonies of God’s goodness for year 2008

Posted in Testimonies and sharing on March 9, 2009 by Ben Chia

On Sunday 15/02/09, there was a Myanmar girl who joined the service and i got a chance to meet her. A sister brought her to meet me & our Jedi leader. But it seems a bit strange for me because I saw she wanted to cry when she talked to the people. We don’t know so much about her but after awhile realized that she faced a difficulty. We invited her to join the care group for lunch, treated her to lunch and helped her call home as she hadn’t called home due to lack of money. She shared very slowly about her difficulties as her working place was not good and cannot get any salary for five months. It was surprised. She came here for work as a domestic helper and also had to pay Agency fee for 3000 S$. But her salary is 320 S$ per month. Every month agent will cut her pay for 300 S$. So, she got only 20 S$ per month. At that time we were really had no idea how to encourage & advice even we’re trying to help. Yes, we prayed for her and she cried and cried. She found that at least God people are around her and still treated her like brother & sister. Ser reen & me accompanied her to her way back home and we had a dinner together at Great World city which was nearby her working place. Again we had no idea how to encourage her. So, I just pray and say thanks for our meal and God, to protect her. She enjoyed and praised the Lord. After that we were waving our hands to her & her boss Good Bye. Two days later, her friend called me up and said that a miracle happened to the Myanmar sister. Her agent told her that she is able to choose the working home she prefers (out of 3 homes she had worked with) and the agent won’t charge her for agency fee from then onwards. I couldn’t believe it was true! Yes, that’s why she told the news to her friend and asked the friend to tell me (because she couldn’t call out). Thank God! Finally, she got what she requested for her prayer point. It encouraged me that God is alive and he still saves us even though we are weak & imperfect.

This is my short testimony for 2008: “I came to the valley of my life this year. I felt my life was a complete failure and I was very depressed and hopeless. Unknowingly, I had allowed destructive thoughts to control me and head my life to the south. The breakthrough came when I intentionally deal with every thought and make it obedient to Christ. I did it through a lot of journaling. After two months, I am better and clearer at differentiating God’s voice and the devil’s voice. And God restored me with joy, hope and a great sense of freedom.” Bondage (before) è Freedom (after): This would sum up how God had helped me this year.

Here’s my short testimony on how knowing Christ changed me: My Lord showed me His love through sharing. When I was a non believer, I have learnt to be a just & fair person. My understanding was everything needs to be equal. Many times I have second thoughts about giving up my share of time/ resources/ finances/ possessions and many more to others because I think we all have our fair share. No one deserves more or less. Basically, I was building my own kingdom only for myself. It was hard for me to understand why one would need to share. However, God brought light into my life and taught me the beauty and joy of giving and sharing. Ever since I’ve started sharing my time/ resources/ finances/ possessions/ even my life to others. I’ve seen how others are blessed much when I choose to give my all to others and God. And that brings GREAT joy, especially seeing pre-believers/backsliders stepping across that line of faith (again). Nonetheless, I’m still seeking God for more selfless faith and giving spirit to be able to invest more in His Kingdom. Whatever I have belongs to Him. Freely I receive, freely I give. Today, I’m being transformed by God from a selfish to a self-less person. Thank God!!! Amen!!

Valentine’s Special – Ladies’ Princess Warrior Conference

Posted in Happenings on March 7, 2009 by christinechean

Many chose to celebrate their Valentine’s Day with his/her love ONE, but Jedis chose to celebrate this day with their love ONES, regardless of marital status! In Jedi, we all know that every Jedi has a special place in our hearts.

As the title suggested, all the Princesses gathered at Siew Min Palace for an ‘inside out makeover’ session. We started off with some ‘Virtue Tests’:

1. Funniest Face – To make a funny face to entertain guests
(one needs to be secure/humble to do this!)
funnyfaces

2. Graciousness – Walking with 5 books on your head

3. Patience – Picking up grains of rice with chopsticks
(the WHITE grains of rice are placed on a WHITE plate)
pick-soft-grain

4. Unity and gentleness – Peeling SOFT grapes and shelling pumpkin seeds which get smash really easily
peeling

All the Princesses passed the tests, half exhausted…haha. Thank God, we were refreshed with words of wisdom on Truths v.s Myths of BGR. Coupled with testimonies from some of the Princesses, we understood that God has His best for us at His timing. Through this series of activities and teaching, we have learnt to live a victorious life by being secure in Christ.

As we proceed to our ‘Dolling-up’ session on hair / nails / cosmetic / baking. The Princes arrived shortly after their Hercules’ Conference. Exhausted but excited, they rushed straight to the kitchen to prepare the precious Princesses Imperial Cuisine. In each of their dishes, it displays its own unique charm and creativity. We were impressed. Then, they present us with their secret weapon – gerbera daisy – which sets all our hearts melting. Such simplistic beauty of gerbera daisy perfectly represents the natural beauty of each Princess.

In reciprocate to this divine royalty treatment, the Princesses prepared lightly-crisped warm waffles and ice cream as desserts. The night concluded pleasantly with a smile on our faces, most importantly, on Jesus’ face as lives are transformed through warm-fellowship event.

This is how Jesus bonds us together with this brotherly/sisterly love.

More new creation in Christ!

Another big celebration in heaven occured as another publicly acknowledge Christ in obedience!

Thank God for Chong Ming’s water baptism. Even though he has been only a new believer some months back, his life has shown the desire to grow in God and desire to honor God through the outward action of water baptism.

Even though there was heavy rain on that day, it was truely God’s blessing and support for all the people who were baptised on that day that the rain stopped enough for all water baptism to complete. Praise God!

Congratulations once again Bro and we’ll support you always. :)

It kicked started off with a discussions of “Being a real MAN”, Pointers and tips were given out and after a long discussion, actions need to be taken, after flexing of Brain Muscles, now it is time to FLEX the Reals Muscles…..

UNSTOPPable, UNDENIABLE, UNDeFeatable, with Great RESOLVE, they went bravely to Kayak. (Dun PLAY PLAY AHHH) Yes, of cos, with wobbling and yet taut muscles, we braved the calm waters of Macritchie. I must say it does for takes a lot of skill for everyone to balance and stand on the kayaks, well there of cos times when we need a “bathe” and splash into the water. Everyone had a fun time of racing each other from one end to another and taking up the challenge of changing partners in different kayaks.. There was so much fun and laughter, best of all we get to know each other better…

Well of cos, its Valentines Day, being GENTLE-cules as well, we finish the day by invading the Warrior Princesses Lair just to whipped up a voluptuous meal for them… Dishes with love and sweat pour out for them accompanied by flowers simply touched the hearts of everyone. Hey  I  can proudly say, Guys can cook very well too!!! Wonderful food, the sweet aroma floating about.. slurp…display of love & care for our sisters (Oh can’t you feel the love in the air, its all around!!), seeing the smiles, joyfulness, laughters, all the muscles aches and training that we had on the day were definitely worth it!!!!

Birthday Celebration for Jedi 3 January Babies

Posted in Fun@caregroup, Testimonies and sharing on February 16, 2009 by jianan08

JEDI3 – On 6 Feb, we had a special caregroup in Warunglele restaurant near Arab street – we celebrated birthdays for Mark, Florence and Mimie. We ordered a CNY promotion set which consists of ‘Yusheng’ to celebrate ‘lo hei’. It was a very delicious Indonesion meal and all of us were very satisfied and happy. This restaurant is strongly recommended to all the Jedis.

During the birthday celebration program, we had a very heart-warming sharing especially from the brothers. We affirmed them many things such as:

  • Florence – Her perseverance and faithfulness in serving God and shepherding her sheep. She has led the group well and we must thank her for gelling us together in love and unity despite the diversity of nationalities, cultures and languages. One of us is determined to stay with God all the way because of what she did! She already moved to a new group to serve God. All of us missed her presence!
  • Mark – He is a man of God. He really loves people. He is also seen as someone who trusts in the Lord. I was amazed by his calm response to the loss of laptop and important documents two months ago. He also possesses extraordinary leadership skills which all of us can learn from. Name blew us away by saying, ”This is the man that I want to follow” after finished his sharing.
  • Mimie – She is a very enthusiastic sister. She also has a big heart for people around her. Further, she took the  courage to serve God to the best of her knowledge despite facing many difficulties and challenges. I am grateful to her for her constant encouragements to all of us. She is back to Thailand for longer period this time. We will definitely miss her a lot!

Florence was very impressed by our sharing and told me (after the event) all Jedi3 guys are very eligible!

A Happy Reunion

Posted in Happenings on February 1, 2009 by Ben Chia

It was a great time of fellowship as JEDI unit came together on sat 31 Jan to celebrate Lunar New Year. We started of with a visitation to Joan’s place. Thank God for the wonderful food prepared by Joan and her mom as well as the food brought by Tian Tian as well. Really enjoyed the chicken wings prepared.

Next stop was to dine at East Coast Food Village. Thank God that my ex-colleague George also joined us for this event, it was a great time for catching up on previous times and getting to know how he was doing. Having dinner at Food Village was indeed a mouth watering food festa. There were many different varieties of food to choose from. The beautiful scenery as well as the atmosphere was one which I find would be hard not to fall in love with. :)

We did enjoy the topics discussed during the feast, ranging from current economic crisis to interesting stuff happening in each and everyone’s life.

After the meal, we went to have a relaxing stroll along the coastline.

I hope that you too have had a great time with your family and friends too.

Signing off and wishing everyone a happy new year on behalf of Jedi. :)

JEDI 1 Christmas Party – Of Fun,Games and the Significance of Christmas

Posted in Happenings on January 17, 2009 by Ben Chia

I’m amazed by the goodness of God on how He brought many friends to join us for Christmas Party of JEDI 1 on 21 Dec 2008!!
Thank God that Andreas, Abi,Shanli, Sumathi, Lucy’s Mom and Joan,Lisha ,Rae and the rest of JEDI 1 members who turned up.
It was great time of fun and games and also a time of sharing more about the significance of Christmas.

Thank God for Kelly in hosting competitive acting and phrase guessing games. There were several categories ranging from food, dances, people to movies to choose from to for acting out or to describe out without using the words listed in the original phrase. Which category do you think was the easiest to act out or to describe out?

Dance of coz *grin*. Surprise?

Thank God for TianTian for sharing about the significance of God’s gift on Christmas. God gave His son to us as the greatest gift of love for mankind. Because of this gift (Jesus), man is reconciled to God. Let us always remember and accept this greatest gift into our life.

Thank God for the gift exchange that followed. There were several interesting gifts, some funny and some very much desired.

Thank God for those who worked behind the scenes to prepare the delicious food for everyone. (Sushi anyone?)

Last of all thank God for the heart warming atmosphere and to see everyone having a wondering time. I love Christmas celebrations and I hope you do as well. :)
